What is the Best Kind of Jade to Buy and Wear?

Customers often ask "what is the best kind of jade to buy and wear?"

The best kind of jade to wear is the kind of jade that really appeals to you.

The best kinds of jade are Chinese jade and Burmese jadeite.

Chinese jade is what Chinese people have been wearing for centuries.  The best Chinese jade is mined in Xiuyan, north east China where it is formed naturally.  There are jade museums there that have jade from centuries, the kind you wear, and carvings and more.  Most of the jade is good green color.  Some are classic round,  the more "modern" are flat inside, and some are carved with design, small carvings in the jade bangle stone.

And Xiuyan also has Chinese "River Jade" that has colors related to the five body meridians you can wear for health and healing:

Chinese medicine tools like jade rollers, jade gua sha tools are made from Chinese jade, mostly from Xiuyan.  If you find yourself attracted to a jade bangle because of the color, it probably has the best qi energy for you.

And Burmese jadeite also has good qi energy.   People who like Burmese jadeite wear them for the beauty and value.  The very best Burmese jadeite is the good imperial green, that is very rare today to find genuine and natural.  The Imperial Green Burmese jadeite often sells at auctions for more than a million US dollars.  And this is the kind of jade you have to be careful when you buy, because there is so much "fake" jade in this category.  I have seen " imperial green Burmese jadeite bangle bracelets" on eBay priced around $100 US dollars, and often have "fake" certificates of gemology testing and are color treated "some kind of stone".

"Old Mine" Burmese jadeite is available on both web sites and was made before 2008 when political problems in Myanmar started the "fake jade" and jade with certificates of gemology testing.  And be careful, because the certificates are often "fake".

Ying Yu Jade and Jade Heaven have been selling jade since the year 2000.  We shopped in China, both at northern Xiuyan and southern China near the Burma border so we could be sure we were buying genuine and natural Chinese jade and Burmese jadeite.

If you buy jade for high value that will probably increase as time goes on, you probably prefer Burmese jadeite.  If you buy jade for qi energy of the colors that relate to your qi meridians, you probably prefer Chinese jade.  And if you are shopping for jade and "something" really appeals to you, that is the best kind of jade to buy for YOU!

Pearl Necklaces, Jade Necklaces, Pearl and Jade Necklaces Ying Yu Jade

When I went to China to shop for jade, I usually flew into Beijing first.  I met my Chinese doctor friend who picked me up at the airport and used jade gua sha tool on my body to help me get over time zone change (12 hour difference) so I could use all my time doing what I want, not just "resting up".  We did tai chi, qigong, and I taught him yoga and Reiki.  We often went on the 16 hour train ride north to Dandong so we could meet our jade carver in Xiuyan.  Then I would travel to Guangzhou and south to the Burma (Myanmar) border to shop for Burmese jadeite directly from the jade carvers.

While in Beijing, one of the interesting place was a Pearl Market.  Of course, they also sold jade there, usually Chinese jade.  While I was looking at the pearl necklaces, I made a comment that I wished they had pearl and jade necklaces.  One of the sellers called "the girls in", and they made jade and pearl necklaces just for me!

These were made with genuine natural pearls and genuine natural Chinese jade.  Of course I kept one of each for myself.   They were made and purchased around 2003 and they are in excellent condition, even more beautiful than when I bought them.  There are also pearl earrings, pearl bracelets available on Ying Yu Jade.

These make great gifts.  And they will get more beautiful as your body qi and the pearl and jade qi work together.  They are custom made, a very unique gift, for a friend or for yourself!

Some People Have Trouble Wearing Jade Bangle Bracelets

All of our web sites sell jade bangle bracelets.  These include genuine and natural Burmese jadeite bangle bracelets, and genuine and natural Chinese jade bangle bracelets.  Some are classic round inside,  most are flat inside, and there are quite a few that are carved with interesting items.  You can find these on Ying Yu Jade, Jade Heaven and JadeBangleBracelets.

I treat customers the way I want to be treated, so if there is a problem with the jade bangle bracelet they buy, I do my best to help the customer get the jade bangle bracelet that is best for them.  The "problem" is usually about size.  For example, someone who wears a 56 mm jade bangle orders a wider 56 mm jade bangle, and they cannot get it on their wrist because it is "too small".  Width usually makes a big difference in how the bangle fits, goes on the wrist.

And sometimes customers are concerned because while they can comfortable get the jade bangle on their wrist, it does not feel comfortable while they are wearing it.

I have been wearing a jade bangle bracelet 24/7 since my first trip to China in 1999.  Since I buy the bangles myself, I always buy "one for me" when I shop for jade in China.  So I occasionally change my jade bangle as seasons change, my body changes, for the qi energy that is different in each jade bangle.

I have been selling jade since 1999 and have the three jade web sites.  My home office is a true office, used only for jade.  It is packed with jade!  Both larger walls are lined with heavy metal shelves, and all of the jade is organized in boxes and fill every inch of space on those shelves.  And you know jade is a heavy stone, so those boxes are heavy.  When customers order, I can find the jade but I have to move the boxes most of the time.  A couple of weeks ago I was reorganizing some of the boxes, and grabbed one that started to fall off the shelf.  It hit my left wrist hard, the wrist I wear my jade bangle on.  And it hurt badly, mostly nerve pain.  And my jade bangle was hurting my wrist as I wore it.  So I had to remove it, painfully, And I just could not deal with not wearing a jade bangle.

BUT!  I also have jade bead bracelets on elastic.  I chose a jade bead bracelet with small beads, and it easily went on my wrist, and did not hurt my wrist.

Small Burmese jadeite "Yin and Yang" Bead Bracelets
available on Ying Yu Jade and Jade Heaven

I like the "yin and yang" qi energy, very balancing.  And the small smooth round beads were very comfortable on my wrist.  The qi energy probably helped my wrist heal quickly, because a few days later I could wear my carved Burmese jadeite bangle bracelet again.

Jade bead bracelets are much lower priced than bangle bracelets.  And the elastic helps get it easily over the hand onto the wrist.  Bead bracelets can also be worn next to a bangle bracelet for something elegant and interesting.  And they make great gifts because the fit most wrists.

If you love jade, but can't wear a jade bangle bracelet, try a Chinese jade or Burmese jadeite bead bracelet.   Available on all web sites:  Ying Yu JadeJade HeavenJadeBangleBracelets.

What Kind of Jade Should I Buy For Christmas Gifts?

Many people love jade, both for themselves and family and friends.  It's getting close to the holidays. You have probably seen on the news that products are starting to become unavailable and shipping will get more expensive and take more days to receive your package.  With all the shipping during the holiday season, packages often get lost.  So now is a good time to shop for jade.

What kind of jade should you buy for gifts?

If you love jade bangle bracelets, you know your own size, but very difficult to determine the size of people you want to gift to.  If they already wear a jade bangle bracelet, you can perhaps find the size by "admiring" it, getting information about how the bangle is enjoyed, and then without drama, ask the size.

Then you can search on our jade sites:   Ying Yu Jade, JadeBangleBracelets, and Jade Heaven.

Ying Yu Jade has not only genuine and natural Chinese jade and Burmese jadeite bangle bracelets.  There are many other options. Here are some suggestions for gifts:

There is other jade jewelry, like necklaces, bead bracelets, pendants.  Ying Yu Jade also sells best quality pearl necklaces purchased and a Pearl Market in Beijing, where they were also designed by us, and jade beads added to the pearls on the necklace.

And now jade gua sha tools, jade rollers, jade face masks for soothing eyes and forehead, are popular.  We will be making sale prices so they are even more attractive.

Jade carvings are also well loved. One of our best sellers is the Jade Money Toad, a carved frog with a coin in its mouth that is placed in office or home facing inwards to bring the money to you!  There are also dragons, fish, turtles, Pixiu, Buddha,  and more.  And we still have a few jade teapot sets, that are the actual size people in China use for tea parties.

Ying Yu Jade has a collection of vintage and pre-owned jade that is one of kind, and you will probably never see other ones like it anywhere else.  Some were purchased at estate sales, and some were obtained by trading some of my "American items" with Chinese people while I was traveling in China.  Sometimes I would meet people on trains who wanted to "see what is inside the handbag" or suitcase, and would trade with me for a jade they wore or had with them.  Very interesting experiences I had travel and shopping in China!

All three of the jade website stores will have daily and weekend specials with reduced prices starting now. So if you are looking for jade for a gift (or something special for yourself!) check every day.  And to make sure you get it safely, choose the upgraded shipping when you check out.  And do it as soon as possible so you get it while shipping is still moving well.

What a good feeling to get your special jade gifts now so you can enjoy holiday season without having to hurry up and shop!

What Kind of Jade Should I Wear? Old or New?

I have been "cleaning up" the office and reorganizing.  You will see on the Sale pages in Jade Heaven and Ying Yu Jade that we are offering "free mystery gifts" with purchase.  These are the "odds and ends" of Chinese and jade items that we will give customers who make a purchase and add the "free gift" to their cart when they check out.

One of the jade items I found in a corner in a pretty silk Chinese page was a small Burmese jadeite bangle bracelet that is my size.  But I didn't know why I had it stashed away for "me" because it sure didn't look like one I would keep for myself.  It's small 53 mm and classic round, quite thin so it's not heavy on the wrist. The coloring seemed to be a muddy green.  I keep the jade, especially the Burmese jadeite in cool dark places, which is how professional jade sellers should do to keep their color and qi energy good.  I put it on my wrist to remind me to take photos and list it.  And I knew that it would probably look more pretty as I wear it, because it blends with body qi and daylight and warmth make it look the way it is supposed to when mined and carved.  It must have been in the dark cool corner for a long time, because when I put it on, it started to look "brighter" and more shiny.  Two days later, I could see rare and precious imperial green veins.  And some "hong" red-ish veins.  And although it is small and thin, it feels cold on my wrist.

And that's how I know it is genuine and natural "old mine" Burmese jadeite, mined and carved at least 20 years ago. The cold feeling comes because of the grain of the jade stone.  And I tested it with refraction to see it is genuine jadeite.  The "old mine" jadeite is so rare to find today.  When the political conflict started in Myanmar (Burma) the jade mines were closed or damaged, and new mines were opened later.  But the jade is not the same good quality and color as it was prior to 2000.

The color did not change while it was "lost".  It was preserved.

And I wish I had taken a photo of it when I first "found" it so I could show you how it looked before I started wearing it.

A friend who saw it when I found it, and sees how it looks today, doesn't "see any difference".  She is not a jade lover!  And I don't "yak about jade" all the time.  I do have a life!

So...if you order a Burmese jadeite bangle bracelet that is older (usually does not have the modern Certificate of Gemology testing from China) and it doesn't look exactly like the photo when you receive, put it on your wrist and wear it a day or two.  Then you will probably see the color and veins look like the photo, because we take our photos in natural daylight so they look like "the real thing".

That is of course if you purchase it from Ying Yu Jade or Jade Heaven.

How to Take Care of Jade in Summer

You love your jade.  You take good care of your jade bangle bracelet because you want to keep it "happy and healthy".  You wonder "what do I do if my jade cracks or breaks".

Jade is "stone", and it is special.  So how do we take care of our jade in summer?

This is a very hot summer this year.  When it's not raining, the sun is shining brightly.   And jade does not like heat or bright light.  When I shopped in China for best quality Burmese jadeite, especially bangle bracelets, I always went to the Burma border to buy directly from the jade carvers, and I only purchased from the sellers who did not have their jadeite in direct sunlight.  And then when I was in the cities, like Guangzhou, where there were "jade markets", and shops that sold very valuable and high priced jadeite, the shops looked dark from the outside, and looked like they were closed, but they were actually open. * They kept the lights turned off, and when customers came in, they had low lights.  That's where I learned that living in Florida, I needed to keep my jade out of direct sunlight.  All of the inventory I have in storage is in closets so they don't have light.  And are cool.  That's why sometimes customers receive the jade they purchased and tell me it's slightly different from what they expected.  I tell them to put the jade bangle on your wrist and wear it all the time for awhile, and it gets its "glow" back, looks more pretty in regular daylight.

I also wear my jade bangle when I go to the pool, in the water.  But I don't stay in the pool for a long time, usually just to cool off, get a little water exercise.  When I get out of the pool, I immediately take a shower and clean the jade bangle, rub it dry.  I've been doing this for 16 years now, living in Florida and have not damaged a jade bangle.  But I do keep my Chinese jade "Money Toad" in my office near a window, and I see Toad is losing its good green color.  (We're both getting old!).

My personal Burmese jadeite bangle bracelet with imperial green
color, wide, smallest size I can get on my wrist.  Value $50,000+

Also, when I get on my "hands and knees" and wash floors, clean hard countertops, I am careful not to let my bangle hit a hard surface.   And that's a reason to wear the smallest jade bangle you can get on so it sits close to your wrist and doesn't move up and down your arm much.

Also, when I take my jade bangle off because I need the qi energy from a different jade bangle, I always remove it over a soft area so if it falls, it won't break.

So protect your jade by keeping it clean.  You can wear it when you bathe or shower, it loves water, but wipe it clean when you are done.  If you use sunscreen, lotions, clean the jade from it.  If you stop wearing your jade for awhile, keep it in a cool, dark place.

*When you shop our stores Ying Yu Jade and Jade Heaven, you will find some Burmese jadeite bangle bracelets and pendants that are very high price.  That's because they were purchased in specialty shops, very valuable, beautiful and "best quality".   On Jade Heaven and Ying Yu Jade, you do get what you pay for.

What Kind of Jade Should I Wear - Daoism, Balance and Empty Vessel Magazine

If you are interested in Daoism, "the Way", you might be interested in the Empty Vessel Magazine.  Right now it is an option to get a free copy of previous Empty Vessel magazines when you make a purchase on Ying Yu Jade.

Empty Vessel Magazine

Many of our jade items have descriptions that are related to Daoism.  For example, "Yin and Yang" (light and dark) balancing jade bangle bracelets, pendants.

Many customers tell me that they find a jade bangle, pendant or carving that appeals to them so much they keep coming back to look at it, and when they receive it they feel very attached to it, and it means so very much to them.  And they often ask me why they feel that way.

One of the main ideas of Taoism is the belief in balancing forces, or yin and yang. These ideas represent matching pairs, such as light and dark, hot and cold, action and inaction, which work together toward a universal whole.

And that's one of the reasons I was attracted to jade when I first started going to China and seeing people wearing jade, looking at jade in shops all over China.  There is so much jade for sale in China that instead of just buying any jade to sell, I put my mind and body in a Dao state to "feel" what felt extra special, and that's the only kind of jade I would buy to sell online.  And when I "felt" jade qi energy, every Chinese jade and Burmese jadeite piece I purchased was genuine and natural.

Dao is "the Way".  It is a simple and natural way of being in our bodies and our psyches, and sharing the Way of being with all life we come into contact with. (Quote from Empty Vessel)

I went to several Buddhist and Daoist monasteries in China, some in major cities, and some in the country side, mountains.  Buddhism seems slightly more formal than Daoism.  The people living in Daoist communities are natural in touch with life, living in the moment.  All we have is "Now",

There are a few copies of the Empty Vessel Magazine I have available if you are interested in learning more. They are located on Ying Yu Jade "Deal of the Day".   And this Way of Life will help you choose that best jade - for YOU!
