“Diamonds and Gold have a price, but Jade has “no Price”.  Diamonds are usually priced based on carat.  Gold is usually priced on karat.  But jadeite, a gemstone, is priced by what sellers and buyers agree to pay. The value of real jade can vary widely, from $3 to thousands of dollars per carat.  Chinese jade is not a gem stone but Burmese jadeite is.

My classic Chinese jade carver in northern China buys jade and carves all the jade he sells to me with prices we both agree.

But when I shopped for Burmese jade at the Burma/Myanmar border, there were never prices on each piece.  The vice president of China jade showed me how to bargain, and then showed me how to test it for grade A.
